South Ostrobothnia Opens Doors: Students Discover Thriving Future in the Region

The ”Discover South Ostrobothnia – Meet the Municipalities” event on May 5, 2025, marked a new step in building the region’s future. Organized by the Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia with SEAMK (Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences) and SeiES (Seinäjoki Entrepreneurship Society), the event successfully connected over 80 students with representatives from 12 municipalities at SEAMK’s Frami F venue. 

Why This Event Mattered 

This gathering addressed a crucial challenge: showing students the real potential of building their futures in South Ostrobothnia. The innovative format delivered concrete results:

Six municipal representatives delivered focused 7-minute talks highlighting: 

  • Career and internship opportunities 
  • Student housing solutions 
  • Community life and recreational activities 
  • Support for graduates and entrepreneurs 
  • Academic collaboration possibilities 

Students responded enthusiastically: 
”Alavus, Kuortane and Ähtari showed us so many opportunities to build a life here – great careers, amazing nature, and welcoming communities.” 

Productive Networking  

The coffee break became a buzzing hub of opportunity where students: 

  • Had meaningful conversations with municipal representatives 
  • Discovered location-specific programs 
  • Made valuable professional connections
